Mr. Phumtham Vejjaiyachai, Deputy Prime Minister, acting as the Prime Minister, presided over the opening ceremony of the Halal Inspirium, an event to promote and develop the Thai Halal industry, creating inspiration to bring Thai identity to the world, along with Mrs. Pimpattra Wichaikul, Minister of Industry.

Mr. Phumtham said that the government is giving importance to driving Thailand to become the Halal center of ASEAN, in accordance with the policy to stimulate the Thai economy. With the potential and readiness in various aspects of Thailand, it is considered ready in many aspects, both as a production base for quality and diverse Halal products, having a strong and potential workforce and industrial entrepreneurs, as well as the tourism sector as a selling point, which give
s Thailand still many opportunities to expand the market to regions around the world.

The Ministry of Industry has been driving the policy of developing the Halal industry in Thailand in accordance with the assigned policy quickly and concretely, along with the guidelines for establishing an agency responsible for the Halal industry in the form of a Halal Industry Center under the Halal Industry Development Action Plan and the guidelines for establishing the National Halal Industry Committee, as well as the plan to expand the Halal product market to markets with high purchasing power, such as Saudi Arabia, ASEAN countries, and other countries around the world.

Ms. Pimpattra, Minister of Industry, said that the event aims to raise awareness of Thai Halal, aiming to win the position of the Halal food center of ASEAN by 2027, pushing all branches of the Thai Halal industry to compete for the global Halal market worth more than 2.3 trillion US dollars, which is expected to reach 3.1 trillion US dollars in 2027.

Currently, Thailand has more than 15,000 halal entrepreneurs, more than 166,000 halal products, and more than 3,500 halal restaurants. The export potential in 2023 will exceed 216,698 million baht, rising to become the 11th largest halal food exporter in the world.

In this event, there was a fashion product display showing the potential of the beauty market in the Muslim clothing and apparel group, as well as a demonstration of Thai food cooking by ‘Chef Nooror’, a Thai Muslim female chef who was able to expand awareness of Thai food soft power to the Muslim consumer market and health-conscious consumers worldwide.
