Bangkok: Phumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, acting Prime Minister, announced his plans to submit the explanation from the Director-General of the Land Department regarding the Khao Kradong issue to an investigation committee. He emphasized that if the explanation is correct, the matter will be resolved. Phumtham stressed that his actions are not intended to intimidate but are in response to public concern.

According to Thai News Agency, Phumtham addressed the situation involving Mr. Decha Isara Khaothong, Deputy Minister of Interior, who is overseeing the Land Department. A committee has been established to investigate the Director-General’s decision not to revoke land title deeds in the Khao Kradong area, located in Tambon Isan and Tambon Samet, Mueang Buriram District, Buriram Province. Phumtham allowed Mr. Decha Isara to lead the investigation, asserting that the Ministry of Interior has been criticized for inefficiency and that the investigation would help clarify the department’s performance. He reiterated his intention not to interfere with the investigation process and stated that his goal is to dispel public doubts regarding the matter.

Phumtham explained that the committee comprises mostly external members to ensure fairness and transparency. He compared the situation to his experiences in the Ministry of Defense, emphasizing the importance of swift resolution to prevent prolonged issues. He referenced the Uighur matter as an example of prolonged issues and stressed the need for careful handling of public concerns. Phumtham reiterated the necessity of providing a clear explanation to society to prevent further questions.

Phumtham mentioned that once the Director-General’s explanation is evaluated by the committee, if found accurate, the issue will be concluded. Any discrepancies would need to be addressed based on the investigation’s findings. The explanation will be submitted to the committee for thorough consideration.
