PM discusses road safety, improves travel

The Prime Minister held a road safety meeting to improve travel after a school bus caught fire, hoping to attract the private sector to join in solving the problem at the source before showing it to the UN this November.

Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, chaired the meeting to discuss road safety. She said that the incident on October 1 was a tragic event that caused the government to re-examine everything. She wanted the law to be enforced to ensure road safety, including many laws that are not up-to-date. We may have to talk about this issue to amend various laws and regulations to keep up with the times. This is something she wanted to talk about today. There will be agencies involved in law enforcement, such as the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, and the Ministry of Education, who will be the guidelines for enforcement in various matters, such as the issue of buses, which was previously prop
osed that someone should advise, like an airplane, which way to go and what safety equipment to use.

The Prime Minister also gave an example on social media that presented the idea of ??announcing exit doors, which was quite good. Therefore, he would like everyone to try to study and see the examples that the people have done, which are considered beneficial.

The Prime Minister also said that he wanted all sectors to cooperate, especially the joint project with the United Nations, namely the UN Special Envoy for Road Safety, chaired by Mr. Jean Todt, which will be held in November and will be publicized for the world to see about transportation, road use, and various safety systems. Another thing he wanted to see was the participation of the private sector. After this, we will have a workshop to promote cooperation between the private and public sectors because the private sector, whether they are entrepreneurs, will be able to tell what the real problems are that they are facing, how they want the governme
nt to help, or how they can see things that can be developed together.
