‘Pol. Gen. Somyot’ smiles, refuses to give interview on ‘Boss” speeding fine case


‘Pol. Gen. Somyot’ smiles happily, refuses to give media interviews after the court has scheduled the first interrogation in the case of helping adjust the speed of ‘Boss’ who hit and killed a police officer.

Pol. Gen. Somyot Pumpanmuang, former national police chief, along with eight others, and the Office of the Attorney General 1, filed a lawsuit in the case of malfeasance in office, for helping adjust the speed of the car driven by Mr. Vorayuth or Boss Yoovidhya, the accused, which hit Pol. Sgt. Maj. Wichian Klanprasert, the commander of the suppression unit at Thong Lor Police Station, causing his death on September 3, 2012.

The eight defendants were granted bail with a cash bail of 200,000 baht each. Today, the eight defendants must come to court as scheduled to give their statements in person.

At 9:30 a.m., Pol. Gen. Somyot arrived at the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct in a black van with a cheerful face. He refused to give an interview to the media after being questioned duri
ng today’s interrogation before walking up to the court.

From observation, the other 7 defendants did not appear before the media until the court’s scheduled time. It is expected that they had arrived at the court earlier.-412
