Bangkok: In a coordinated operation, police apprehended more than 60 individuals involved in illegal street racing on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, following tips received about a planned gathering during Chulalongkorn Day festivities. The operation led to the arrest of 68 offenders, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety and illegal racing activities.
According to Thai News Agency, the police deployed over 60 officers to set up checkpoints after receiving alerts from social media regarding the racing event. Of those arrested, 22 were charged with attempted street racing and reckless driving. The group included both minors and adults, who are scheduled to appear in court today. The remaining 46 individuals faced fines as per the Land Traffic Act for violations such as lacking a license plate and making unauthorized modifications to their vehicles.
