Police Intensify Investigation into The Icon Group, Search 11 Locations


BANGKOK: The Royal Thai Police have intensified their investigation into The Icon Group Co., Ltd., conducting searches at 11 locations connected to the case and advising public figures to verify information before disseminating it. The police chief emphasized that no one will be exempt from prosecution if found guilty, while clarifying that the wife of ‘Boss Kant’ has not been implicated in the ongoing investigation.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, along with senior police officials, announced the progress of the investigation following a meeting regarding The Icon Group. With nearly 7,000 victims having filed complaints since October 10, the investigation has revealed damages exceeding 2,046 million baht. The police have detained 18 suspects and are actively tracing financial transactions and analyzing accounts.

Pol. Gen. Kittirat confirmed that searches at 11 locations linked to the suspects are ongoing, and further evidence collec
tion is underway to determine if additional arrest warrants are necessary. The police chief stressed that any individuals implicated by evidence will face legal action, and victims initially identified may later be considered suspects based on evidence.

In response to inquiries about Mr. Kant’s wife, Pol. Gen. Kittirat clarified that she is not currently on the list of suspects and has not been detected leaving the country. He also noted that the investigation is addressing complaints of misinformation and emphasized the importance of careful analysis before pressing charges.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Jiraphop addressed concerns about Boss Paul’s national identity, confirming he is Thai and dismissing foreign citizenship claims. The investigation will continue to verify these details.

The police are also investigating claims related to audio clips, assigning Pol. Maj. Gen. Charoonkiat Pankaew and the Anti-Corruption Division to explore potential government offenses. The police chief affirmed that any clear evidence of
wrongdoing will lead to prosecution, while individuals can present evidence of innocence.

Additionally, the police are scrutinizing a 1 million baht transaction from Boss Paul to a senior monk, with potential asset freezing if deemed suspicious. Authorities have already seized assets worth over 400 million baht from the suspects.

Concerns about digital currency transactions have prompted an investigation by the Anti-Corruption Division. Pol. Gen. Kittirat warned public figures against spreading misinformation, stating that those who do so will face legal consequences.

The investigation continues to explore potential links between The Icon Group and online gambling, though no connections have been found thus far. Pol. Gen. Kittirat reiterated the importance of asset transfer investigations, warning that such actions could lead to charges of money laundering. The case is expected to conclude within 48 days, adhering to legal timeframes.
