Police Officer Summoned Over Controversial Speech at The Icon Event

Bangkok: Pol. Lt. Gen. Akkaradet Pimolsri has called on a senior police officer to report for questioning following the emergence of a video clip showing him speaking at an event organized by The Icon Group Company Limited. The officer, identified as the deputy commander of the Saraburi Provincial Police, was seen in uniform endorsing collaboration with the company for success.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Maj. Gen. Charoonkiat Pankaew, deputy commander of the Central Investigation Bureau, stated that the Anti-Corruption Division has arranged for the officer to provide a statement on October 26. The investigation aims to ascertain the nature of the statements made in the clip, determining whether they constituted a mere expression or involved false claims or fraud.

A source close to the officer revealed that following the video’s circulation, the officer was reportedly stressed and traveled to Bangkok to meet with Pol. Lt. Gen. Akkaradech Pimolsri, Assistant Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police. The
officer is described as having a penchant for business, supplementing his income through a convenience store and initially experiencing success with products from The Icon. However, his involvement reportedly dwindled following a change in the company’s membership format.
