Police raid laughing gas shop at Full Moon Festival, Koh Phangan

Central Investigation Police raided a laughing gas shop in the middle of the Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan. The shop owner admitted that he knew it was wrong, but the profit was good, so he took the risk.

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) led forces to arrest Mr. Rangsiman, 29 years old, a suspect in the illegal sale of laughing gas or nitrous oxide, after selling to tourists at a service venue on Haad Rin, Koh Phangan District, Surat Thani Province.

Police officers from the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) joined forces to inspect the area of ??the Full Moon Party on Haad Rin Beach, Koh Phangan District, Surat Thani Province after learning that a two-story entertainment venue was secretly selling nitrous oxide (laughing gas) on the second floor of Haad Rin Beach, Koh Phangan District, the venue for the Full Moon Party. It was learned that nitrous oxide (laughing gas) was still being sold illegally. When officers went up to the second floor of the venue, they saw tourists holding balloons. They inspe
cted the venue and found two blue gas tanks filled with nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and used balloons scattered on the floor of the venue and on tables where tourists had come to the Full Moon Party. They also found two signs advertising the sale of nitrous oxide (laughing gas). The signs read ‘LAUGHING GAS BALLOON TRY NOT TO LAUGH’ and ‘BALLOON 200 B FOR ONE TRIP’ placed near the gas tanks. The police officers pressed charges against Mr. Rangsiman, the owner of the venue, and took him to the Koh Phangan Police Station for legal proceedings.

Initially, the suspect confessed to all charges and stated that he had sold laughing gas to tourists who came to the Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan because he could make a high profit. However, recently, the price has increased even more after the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) continuously inspected and made arrests in the area.

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) would like to warn parents to be vigilant and educate their children about the use of nitrous oxid
e (laughing gas) because it is easy to buy and inexpensive. Some entertainment venues have been illegally sold to customers for misuse. Although this type of gas is not classified as a drug, it does affect the nervous system. They would like to warn children and teenagers not to get involved with or use nitrous oxide (laughing gas) because the effects of inhaling too much nitrous oxide (laughing gas) or continuously will cause abnormalities in the nervous system and muscle weakness because when inhaled into the body, the gas will interfere with the function of ‘vitamin B12’. If inhaled frequently for a long time, the body will lack oxygen, which can be life-threatening. The effects on the body include dizziness, nausea, vomiting, peripheral nerve degeneration, numbness in the fingers and toes, unconsciousness, and in the worst case, death.
