Police to survey street race locations in Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi

The Greater Jakarta Police observed race tracks in the areas of Depok, Bekasi, and Tangerang to be used for a street race in February 2022.

“Next month, we plan to hold the same event at a different location, and we will conduct a survey, possibly tomorrow. We will examine the track in BSD, including in Bekasi and Depok,” Traffic Director of the Greater Jakarta Metro Police Senior Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo stated here on Wednesday.

Yogo spoke of his administration having received recommendations from each traffic unit of the suitable location to be used for the event.

However, they had yet to disclose the location for the future street race event, as they had yet to survey them first.

The traffic director noted that the street race to be held next month was the police’s response to the high demand for the street race that took place last weekend in Ancol, North Jakarta.

At the street race in Ancol, the Greater Jakarta Police’s Traffic Division opened up a quota of 350 participants. However, they might offer more slots in the next event.

Yogo also noted that the event will be held for two days.
He also expects this event to serve as a catharsis for young people to channel their interest of street motorcycle racing, so as to avoid becoming involved in illegal street races that posed risks and dangers to others.

“If this event could be conducted regularly, fellows, who enjoy racing, can channel their talents and hobbies in this activity and also not indulge in illegal racing that involves blocking the roads, so that order can be maintained, and safety could be ensured,” he added.
