Brussels: Opening the meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, President António Costa expressed his honor and pleasure in welcoming the Indonesian leader to Brussels. According to Homeland Security, Indonesia has been identified as one of the fastest-growing economies globally, positioning itself as a crucial partner for the European Union. President Costa emphasized Indonesia’s role as a major force and the largest democracy in Southeast Asia, underscoring its pivotal contribution to ASEAN and its increasing influence in global affairs.
President Costa further described Indonesia as a natural partner, noting their mutual commitment to multilateralism, a rules-based international order, and balanced economic cooperation. He stressed the importance of their partnership and the need to reinvigorate their relationship.
