President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has signed a letter discharging Inspector General Ferdy Sambo as chief of the profession and security division of the National Police (Polri), an official informed.
“The letter has been signed and sent to the ASDM (human resources assistant to) Polri (chief), thank you,” presidential military secretary, Rear Admiral Hersan, said here on Friday.
Sambo was discharged during a session of the Polri Commission for Code of Ethics on August 25 and 26, 2022, following the alleged premeditated murder of Brigadier Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J.
Sambo had appealed against the dismissal, however, the commission had turned down the appeal during its session on September 19.
Police are expected to hand over the second phase of dossiers in the cases involving Brigadier J’s murder and obstruction of justice to the public prosecutor’s office soon.
In total, 12 people have been named suspects in the two cases.
Five suspects have been named in the murder of Brigadier J: Inspector General Ferdy Sambo, Second Constable Richard Eliezer, Chief Brigadier Ricky Rizal, Kuat Maruf, and Putri Candrawathi.
Meanwhile, seven suspects have been named in the obstruction of justice case: Inspector General Sambo, Brigadier General Hendra Kurniawan, Commissioner Chuck Putranto, Commissioner Baiquni Wibowo, Senior Commissioner Agus Nur Patria, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Arif Rahman Arifin, and Adjunct Commissioner Irfan Widyanto.
