President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) welcomed Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto and son Didit Prabowo, who paid a visit during his stay at the Gedung Agung Presidential Palace in Yogyakarta on the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
“Today afternoon, I received Minister Subianto and son Didit (Prabowo) that paid a visit to me during Eid al-Fitr,” Jokowi told journalists at the Gedung Agung front terrace, Yogyakarta, on Monday.
The president remarked that during the encounter, he and Subianto engaged in warm-hearted discussions while enjoying the opor ayam dish (braised chicken in coconut milk).
“We discuss various matters but not serious aspects, not political nor economic affairs. We merely discuss menial things,” he remarked.
Jokowi stated that the crucial aspect of his encounter with Subianto is that they met and forgave each other for past mistakes.
Meanwhile, Subianto said he was glad that President Jokowi welcomed him at the Gedung Agung Presidential Palace.
Visiting the president on the first day of Eid al-Fitr has been his personal tradition, the defense minister noted.
“It is our tradition that on the first day (of Eid al-Fitr), we will visit our president. Today, I have the honor to be welcomed by (the president) this morning. First Lady Iriana and (Jokowi’s youngest son) Kaesang Pangarep also welcomed us,” he remarked.
During their encounter, they discussed several matters, the minister remarked while adding that one of the topics they discussed pertained to Bogor, West Java, and they echoed the same feeling of how they enjoyed living in the city.
“We discuss menial things, and we (also share our feeling that we) enjoy living in Bogor,” Subianto stated.
Apart from opor ayam, the minister revealed that the president also served them meatball soup and tempeh bacem (sweet marinated tempeh) during their visit to the palace.
