President reviews handover of motorcycles to Maluku military command

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Wednesday reviewed the handing over of 40 motorcycles from the Defense Ministry to the District Military Command 1503/Tual, Southeast Maluku district, Maluku.

He said that the handover was a follow-up to his directive on the preparation of a long-term defense plan.

“For this reason, the development of territorial strength is one of the crucial elements, so we will empower all Babinsa (village affiliated non-commissioned officers), Koramil (sub-district military commands), Kodim (district military commands), Korem (sub-regional military commands), and Kodam (regional military commands). It is in our master plan, part of the nation’s defense, which uses the hankamrata system (universal national defense security system),” Subianto informed here on Wednesday.

The hankamrata is a national defense system that involves all national citizens, territories, and other national resources.

Subianto said the motorcycles, which are planned to be produced by domestic companies, would also be given to Babinsa across Indonesia.

“This is just the beginning because we will give all Babinsa (officers) the motorcycles and we plan that the motorcycles would be produced in Indonesia by state-owned weapons manufacturer PT Pindad and state-owned electronics manufacturer PT Len under the state defense industry holding Defend ID,” he added.

He also emphasized the commitment of the country’s defense components to carrying out the President’s mandate in maintaining Indonesia’s wealth and diversity.

“If we are rich and do not take care of it, it is our fault that our wealth is taken away,” he remarked.

First Lady Iriana Jokowi joined President Jokowi  in reviewing the motorbikes handing over activity.

Governor of Maluku Murad Ismail, Southeast Maluku District Head Muhamad Thaher Hanubun, Deputy District Head Petrus Beruatwarin, and Tual City Mayor Adam Rahayaan also attended the event.
