President Joko Widodo has issued Presidential Regulation Number 104 of 2022, setting the monthly performance allowance of the head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) at Rp49.86 million.
“The head of the National Research and Innovation Agency is given an allowance of 150 percent of the performance allowance for the highest class positions within the National Research and Innovation Agency,” Article 6 Paragraph 1 of the Presidential Regulation, which was accessed on the State Secretariat Ministry’s website on Friday, states.
The performance allowance for the highest class of office is Rp33.24 million per month, and 150 percent of that amount is Rp49.86 million.
“The performance allowance for the National Research and Innovation Agency, as referred to in Paragraph (1), is given starting in September 2021,” according to the second paragraph of the article.
Meanwhile, Article 7 stipulates that income tax on performance allowance for employees would be charged from the state budget.
Further, President Widodo has also signed Presidential Decree No. 105 of 2022, which regulates the financial rights of the secretary, members of the directing committee and its special staff, as well as other facilities for the directing committee and the agency’s special staff.
As per the regulation, the secretary of the directing committee will receive a maximum of 10.5/12 of the performance allowance received by the head of the agency.
This means that Sudhamek Agoeng Waspodo Soenjoto—as secretary of the directing committee who is also a subordinate of Megawati Soekarnoputri, the chair of the agency’s directing committee—will receive Rp43.627 million per month.
Meanwhile, the financial rights of the members of the agency’s directing committee will be equivalent to 10/12 of the total allowance of the head of the agency, which would bring the amount to Rp41.55 million per month.
Furthermore, the special staff to the chairperson of the committee, who is not ex-officio, will receive 7/12 of the head of the agency’s allowance, or Rp29.085 million per month.
However, the financial rights of the chairperson of the agency’s directing committee, Megawati Soekarnoputri, have not been elaborated in the Presidential Regulation. The regulation only states that Soekarnoputri will receive financial rights in the form of official travel expenses.
“Other facilities for the chair, vice chair, secretary, members of the directing committee, and special staff for the chairperson of the directing committee of the National Research and Innovation Agency, as referred to in Article 1, are provided in the form of official travel expenses,” according to Article 3 of Presidential Regulation Number 105 of 2022.
The regulation came into effect on August 24, 2022.
