Gyeongju: The Prime Minister delivered a special speech at the APEC CEO Summit 2025, focusing on Thailand’s role as a bridge connecting the global economy under the theme ‘Bridge, Business, Beyond.’ The event, held at the Gyeongju Art Center in the Republic of Korea, gathered leaders from APEC member economies and prominent figures from the business world.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul emphasized Thailand’s commitment to reducing bureaucratic hurdles, enhancing investment appeal, and fostering regional and global collaboration to combat cybercrime and online fraud. The speech underscored Thailand’s strategic transition from a middle-income nation to a high-income one, highlighting the government’s “Quick Big Win” approach to economic development.
The Prime Minister outlined Thailand’s focus on bridging economic gaps, creating business opportunities, and shaping the future. The government has initiated projects like “Half-Half” to lower living costs and increase digital access. Additionally, over 500,000 Thais are undergoing training in data analytics, AI, and green technologies to support a knowledge-driven economy.
In terms of business opportunities, the Prime Minister highlighted initiatives to empower SMEs and enhance access to capital and digital tools. Projects like “SME Reboot and Go Digital” are designed to help small entrepreneurs thrive in the digital age, with collaborations such as linking Thailand’s PromptPay system with Singapore’s PayNow system.
The Prime Minister also spoke on aligning regulations with international standards and Thailand’s ambition to join the OECD by 2030. Efforts to streamline public administration and enhance transparency aim to boost efficiency and investment trust.
Looking to the future, Thailand is partnering with global tech giants to advance digital transformation and sustainability. Initiatives include expanding the 5G network, promoting green technologies, and achieving net-zero emissions by 2065.
The Prime Minister’s address concluded with a call for global cooperation to maintain open supply chains and support a rules-based multilateral system. The summit showcased Thailand’s readiness to collaborate internationally for shared prosperity and sustainable wealth.
