Prime Minister Monitors Aid Efforts in Chiang Rai and Mae Sai.

CHIANG RAI: The Prime Minister continues to monitor assistance for Chiang Rai and Mae Sai, even after returning from the area, ordering government agencies to collect leftovers, while the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security finds that assistance is needed to promptly resolve the problem. The Meteorological Department has announced that cold weather has arrived, with temperatures in the North and Northeast dropping by another 2-4 degrees.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, advisor to the Prime Minister and spokesman for the Operations Center for Flood, Storm and Landslide Relief or OCPR, revealed that the Prime Minister has ordered local government agencies to inspect and collect areas that may need assistance, especially vulnerable groups of people or the elderly.

The latest report from the CPDC was from Mr. Anukul Peedkaew, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, indicating that the Chiang Rai Provincial Social Development and Human Secur
ity Office (HSDHO) had received a request from the Mirror Foundation to renovate and repair a house for the elderly in the Koh Sai community, Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province. The house, belonging to Ms. Chan Saeng Muen Yong, aged 64, was partially damaged by the flood, affecting doors, windows, kitchen, and bathroom. The foundation asked the HSDHO and Mae Sai Subdistrict Municipality to repair and build a new bathroom, with the HSDHO ready to provide immediate assistance by coordinating with the Mirror Foundation’s technicians for materials and equipment assessment.

The Meteorological Department has warned of volatile weather in the upper region and heavy to very heavy rain in the South from today until November 6, 2024. Temperatures will drop in the North and Northeast, with temperatures dropping by 2-4 degrees Celsius. Mountaintops and hilltops will experience cold weather. The Central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, the East, and the upper South, will see temperatures drop by 1-3 degrees
Celsius.

Officials urge residents in the North and Northeast to take care of their health due to colder weather, dry air, and strong winds that may lead to fires. Meanwhile, the South and Central regions, especially agricultural areas, should be cautious of damage to crops due to heavy rain. Provinces like Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Ranong, and Phang Nga are expected to experience heavy rain on November 3-4, 2024. Residents are advised to follow updates from the Meteorological Department via their website or weather forecast hotline, available 24 hours a day.
