Prime Minister Reviews Budget Documents Amid Police Helicopter Crash Investigation

Bangkok: The Prime Minister entered Government House to review documents in preparation before entering the parliament to discuss the 2016 budget. This marks a significant step as the country gears up for the 69th budget discussion scheduled for this evening. During this time, the National Police Chief awaited updates on the police helicopter crash investigation.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, resumed her duties at Government House after returning from the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This morning, the Prime Minister proceeded to the Thai Khu Fah Building to scrutinize documents and various issues that will be debated by the opposition concerning the draft 2026 Budget Act. This act is set to be introduced in the House of Representatives at approximately 5:00 p.m. today. A key point of discussion is the central budget, which has been allocated the highest amount of 632,968 million baht. The opposition has expressed intentions to assist the government in reallocating funds by cutting unnecessary expenditures in the 2026 budget to address current crises.

Additionally, Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet, the national police chief, arrived at Government House to provide an update on the ongoing investigation into the Bell 212 police helicopter crash in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. A revealing chat message from Pol. Lt. Col. Pratuang Chuleut, one of the pilots who tragically died in the crash, indicated that ‘the helicopter could barely fly,’ raising concerns over the aircraft’s condition before the incident.
