Bangkok: “Teng” inquired about the Prime Minister’s trend of resigning before the Constitutional Court’s decision. He emphasized that the decision to dissolve Parliament or not is up to the government.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Natthaphong Ruangpanyawut, a prominent party-list MP and the leader of the People’s Party, addressed rumors concerning Prime Minister and Culture Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s possible resignation. The speculation arises ahead of the Constitutional Court’s impending ruling on an audio clip involving her conversation with Samdech Hun Sen. Mr. Natthaphong highlighted that the choice to resign rests solely with the Prime Minister, adding that he cannot provide answers on her behalf.
Mr. Natthaphong also commented on the potential scenarios following the passage of the 2026 budget bill, which could lead to either the dissolution of Parliament or the Prime Minister’s resignation. He noted that the decision lies with the government and the Pheu Thai Party. In his view, there appears to be an effort to maintain government stability for now, although the final decision will ultimately be made by the government.
