Preparing competent human resources to develop the new capital Nusantara will be the ministry’s priority, according to Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono.

“The new capital provides an opportunity for the ministry’s younger generation, either in the technical or non-technical aspects. There is a technical aspect because we will utilize new technologies to develop infrastructures. The younger generation must use the new capital as a training ground, and they must cultivate the interest starting from the planning stage,” Hadimuljono noted as per the statement here, Wednesday.
Development of the new capital indubitably requires competent human resources, with an understanding of the basic principles of a smart city, as well as have the ability to analyze and resolve any issue pertaining to smart city development, he affirmed.
“The Nusantara capital city is designed to be the city of the future, no matter how it will be called a forest city or a smart city. As this means, the city is for the younger generation, utilize this opportunity,” the minister remarked.
Hadimuljono urged the ministry’s younger generation to extract basic knowledge on the smart city concept for implementation in the new capital development.
The new capital is also a medium for members of the younger generation to develop themselves as engineers or other professionals that will benefit development of the new capital, he remarked.
The minister stated that some 25 people were dispatched to study smart city development in South Korea, and they were expected to share their knowledge with Indonesian colleagues after completing their study.
