PTT Boosts Sukhothai’s Ban Nam Phu Community with Renewable Energy and Organic Rice Standards

Sukhothai: Take a look at the success of a community in Khiri Mat District, Sukhothai Province. From traditional rice farming, villagers have developed into organic rice farmers, exporting to several countries at prices that are twice as high. PTT’s Strong Community Project, through 5-dimensional community development, has helped promote the use of renewable energy to reduce costs and incorporate modern technology into the organic rice production process, raising the quality to export standards. The product has also been processed to add value to rice bran oil, increasing income, creating happiness for farmers, and strengthening communities.

According to Thai News Agency, the initiative has had a transformative impact on the community’s economic landscape. By adopting renewable energy solutions, farmers have been able to significantly cut costs associated with rice production. This shift not only makes the venture more sustainable but also ensures that the farmers can compete in the international market with a high-quality product.

The project’s focus on integrating modern technology into farming practices has been pivotal. This approach has not only enhanced the quality of the rice to meet export standards but has also facilitated the diversification of products derived from rice, such as rice bran oil. This diversification has opened up new revenue streams for the farmers, contributing to their financial stability and overall community well-being.

The success of the Ban Nam Phu community serves as a model for other regions striving for sustainable agricultural practices and economic growth. PTT’s Strong Community Project highlights the potential of combining traditional farming with modern advancements to create a thriving, sustainable community.
