Rainfall across Thailand is increasing, with heavy rain in some areas.

Bangkok,, The Meteorological Department reported that there will be more rain throughout Thailand and some areas will have heavy rain. In the eastern region, there will be very heavy rain in some areas. Beware of flash floods and forest runoff. As for Bangkok and its vicinity, there will be thunderstorms in 70% of the area, with heavy rain in some areas.

The Meteorological Department forecasts the weather for the next 24 hours. The monsoon trough will move down across the upper part of the North and upper Laos, entering a low-pressure cell in the upper part of Vietnam and the Gulf of Tonkin. In addition, the moderate southwest monsoon continues to cover the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. This will cause more rain in Thailand and some areas to have heavy rain, with some areas in the Eastern region having very heavy rain. People in the aforementioned areas should be careful of the dangers of heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rain, which may cause flash floods and forest runoff, especi
ally on slopes near waterways and lowlands. Be extra careful when traveling through areas with thunderstorms.

For the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand, the sea has waves approximately 2 meters high. For the lower Andaman Sea and the lower Gulf of Thailand, the waves are 1-2 meters high. In areas with thunderstorms, the waves are higher than 2 meters. Sailors in the aforementioned areas are advised to sail with caution and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms.

In addition, at 01.00 today (28 July 2014), the tropical depression ‘Kami’ covering Hubei Province, China, has weakened into a strong low-pressure area. This storm will not directly affect the weather in Thailand. Those who plan to travel to the aforementioned area should check the weather conditions before traveling.
