CHUMPHON: After a recent incident involving Rohingya refugees in Chumphon Province, Thai authorities are preparing for a potential surge of Rohingya individuals entering the country. This follows the discovery of dozens of Rohingya who experienced respiratory distress after being abandoned in Lang Suan District. Additionally, 16 survivors have been detained for questioning.

According to Thai News Agency, the detained individuals revealed that their intended destination was Malaysia, prompting concerns about a larger wave of Rohingya seeking entry into Thailand. Authorities have successfully apprehended a taxi driver who had initially evaded capture, providing further insight into the movement of these refugees.
