Bangkok: Samart Jenchaijitwanich has resigned from the Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP) as of October 25, following the controversy surrounding an audio clip. Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan, leader of the PPRP, confirmed the resignation, noting that Samart personally submitted his resignation to the Election Commission.
According to Thai News Agency, Gen. Prawit revealed the details after a meeting of the party’s executive committee. The committee did not consider expelling Samart because his resignation was already submitted to the Election Commission. Gen. Prawit stated that the matter had been forwarded to the party, emphasizing that “He has left. He has left.”
The meeting was initially expected to discuss and potentially resolve issues concerning Samart’s membership. However, it was reported that the Election Commission had already processed Samart’s resignation by October 25, without the party’s prior knowledge. The resignation is currently with the party secretary, rendering further resolutions unnecessary.
