Bangkok: People are gradually securing seats under Rama VIII Bridge on the Thonburi side to witness the Royal Barge Procession, part of the Royal Kathin Ceremony at Wat Arun Ratchawararam. With a capacity of up to 4,000 seats, this area is a prime location managed by Bangkok authorities, and it is recommended to use public transportation due to the lack of parking.
According to Thai News Agency, the atmosphere at the site is bustling, with many attendees donning yellow shirts as they reserve seats. The Director of Bang Phlat District has confirmed the deployment of officers to assist the growing number of visitors, with approximately 600 seats already claimed. This location offers a close-up view of the royal barge as it marks the starting point of the procession.
Furthermore, the site is significant as some rowers of the royal barges, particularly those in the Dang and Saeng boats group, prepare here for the procession. Royal Palace officials are present to ensure the rowers’ attire is in order, given the
proximity to the parking area for about 20 of the Dang and Saeng boats.
