Bangkok: The Security Committee is set to convene to discuss the circumstances surrounding Thaksin Shinawatra’s stay on the 14th floor of the Police General Hospital. This meeting is aimed at examining the justice process in light of the Department of Corrections’ decision to allow the former Prime Minister to receive medical treatment at this specific location.
According to Thai News Agency, the Committee on State Security, Thai Border Affairs, National Strategy, and National Reform, led by Mr. Rangsiman Rome, a party-list MP from the Prachachon Party, has scheduled a meeting on November 7 at 9:30 a.m. The session will focus on evaluating issues and potential reforms in the country’s justice system, particularly regarding the legal and procedural aspects of Thaksin’s hospitalization.
Key individuals have been invited to provide insights to the committee. These include Pol. Gen. Sereepisuth Temiyawes, leader of the Seri Ruam Thai Party, and Pol. Gen. Surachet Hakpal, former deputy national police chief. Ot
her invitees are Pol. Lt. Gen. Soponrat Singhajaru, assistant national police chief, and Pol. Lt. Gen. Taweesin Wetchavitarn, chief physician of the Police General Hospital. Additional contributors are Pol. Maj. Gen. Sorawut Laorattanaworapong, former deputy chief physician of the Police General Hospital, Mr. Watchai Mingbanjerdsuk, director of the Corrections Department, and Ms. Ruamthip Suphanon, doctor of the Corrections Department. The meeting will also be attended by Wichai Wongchanaphai, assistant secretary of the Medical Council, and Mr. Wayo Atsawarungruang, MP and chairman of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation.
