Ang thong: A speeding sedan broke through a police checkpoint in Ang Thong Province, leading to a pursuit and the subsequent discovery of methamphetamine and crystal meth inside the vehicle. The sedan was eventually found abandoned with flat tires, and further investigations revealed additional suspicious items.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident began when Ang Thong City Police set up a checkpoint on Pho Ya Tha Ruea Road near Pangiew Intersection. The sedan, aware of the checkpoint, accelerated and broke through, prompting officers to fire at its tires in an attempt to stop it. Despite their efforts, the vehicle managed to evade capture, leading police to radio for assistance and circulate the car’s description, notably marked by a distinctive front sticker.
A tip-off from a concerned citizen later directed the police to a white sedan parked in an alley near the Ang Thong bypass bridge. Upon inspection, officers confirmed it matched the description of the vehicle involved in the incident. The fron
t and rear right tires were flat, and the car was subsequently transported to the Ang Thong City Police Station.
Inside the sedan, authorities discovered methamphetamine pills concealed in a black box, along with crystal meth scattered across the floor of the car drawer. Additionally, a fake license plate, a gun holster, and a hotel key from Suphan Buri Province were found within the vehicle.
Pol. Lt. Col. Prajak Chumyen, Deputy Chief of Investigation at Ang Thong City Police Station, disclosed that the sedan had driven against traffic during the escape, damaging a patrol car in the process. The police plan to summon the car owner for questioning to determine their involvement or if the vehicle was stolen for the incident.
