Senate President Declines to Address Paethongtarn Audio Clip Case Summary

Bangkok: Senate Chairman avoids media, refuses to answer questions about the audio clip case of Paethongtarn. Regarding the 2016 budget, he insists that the Senate will not overturn it.

According to Thai News Agency, Senate President Mongkol Surasajja declined to comment on whether the Senate would conclude its case today regarding the audio clip of Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra’s conversation with Samdech Hun Sen, and submit it to the Constitutional Court. He simply stated, “It’s fine.” When asked who would be sent as a representative, Mongkol declined to comment and attempted to walk away from reporters.

Reporters inquired about the inclusion of the agenda for the draft Budget Act for the fiscal year 2026. It is expected that it will enter the agenda on September 1 or 2.

Regarding rumors that the Senate will reject the 2026 budget bill, Mr. Mongkol confirmed that there is no such thing.
