Settha Thavisin Expresses Confidence in Paethongtarn Amid Political Challenges

Bangkok: “Settha” believes “Paetongtarn” is full of encouragement and remains steadfast in the face of both external and internal challenges. Despite these hurdles, Mr. Settha Thavisin, the former Prime Minister, expressed his support for Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, encouraging her to stand up and fight. He emphasized that the ongoing processes related to the Prime Minister’s case should be allowed to take their course and highlighted the presence of another Pheu Thai Party candidate, Mr. Chaikasem Nitisiri.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Settha Thavisin addressed concerns about the political stability of the Pheu Thai Party and its ability to instill confidence among the populace. He acknowledged the importance of political stability in driving the economy and maintaining public and investor confidence. While several matters remain pending, Mr. Settha reassured that these ongoing cases require patience as people await their outcomes.

Mr. Settha shared that he had spoken with Ms. Paethongtarn, the current Prime Minister and Minister of Culture, amidst her ongoing conflicts. He encouraged her resilience and expressed his belief in her fighting spirit. When questioned about the potential political implications if Ms. Paethongtarn were to be ordered to suspend her duties, Mr. Settha emphasized the importance of adhering to the justice process and noted that Ms. Paethongtarn is preparing a statement. He also mentioned that Mr. Chaikasem Nitisiri is prepared to step up as a candidate for the Pheu Thai Party.

Regarding his interactions with Mr. Chaikasem, Mr. Settha mentioned that while he had not spoken to him recently, he last saw him at a Pheu Thai Party meeting where Mr. Chaikasem appeared to be in good spirits. Responding to questions about Mr. Chaikasem’s leisure activities, Mr. Settha confirmed that Mr. Chaikasem is a regular golf player, and recent images of him playing were shared by others.

When asked about constitutional amendments, Mr. Settha declined to comment, indicating that he had no knowledge on the matter and concluded the interview with a brief farewell.
