BANGKOK: Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has stated that he has not yet spoken with Kanokwan Wilawan, the former Education Minister, regarding the recent shooting death of Provincial Administrative Organization member Chaimes Sitthisanitpong, also known as SAO Tong. Anutin highlighted that ordinary citizens are prohibited from carrying firearms and assured that the Ministry of Interior is committed to string
ent checks on the use of such weapons, especially in local political contexts.
When questioned about measures to address violence stemming from local politics, Anutin reiterated the need for a thorough investigation to understand the circumstances of the incident. He confirmed that the Ministry of Interior is vigilant in monitoring the use of firearms and ensuring that the law is upheld without prejudice. Anutin affirmed his commitment to a transparent legal process, stating that anyone found culpable will face legal consequences, and no individual, regardless of influence, will receive preferential treatment.
