Somsak Sends MCATT Team to Support Families Affected by Israeli Violence.


Bangkok: Somsak Thepsuthin, the Public Health Minister, has dispatched a Mental Health Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (MCATT) to provide emotional support to the families of Thai nationals who were killed in recent violence in Israel. This initiative follows instructions from Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra, who has emphasized the importance of offering continuous mental health care to those affected.

According to Thai News Agency, the violence resulted in the deaths of four Thai citizens and injuries to one. The deceased and injured individuals were from Health Region 9. The victims include Mr. Prahyat Pilasram from Krasang District, Buriram Province; Mr. Thana Tijanthuek from Sikhio District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province; Mr. Kawisak Papanang from Lam Thamenchai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province; and Mr. Akkapol Wansai, aged 29, from Tambon Muang Phia, Amphoe Kut Chap, Udon Thani Province. The injured person is Mr. Chatchai Sinprasert from Mueang District, Chaiyaphum Province. The MCATT team
from Nakhon Ratchasima Psychiatric Hospital has urgently coordinated with regional health offices to implement mental health care plans for the families.

The Public Health Minister further stated that the MCATT team from the 8th Mental Health Center has been working closely with the Udon Thani Provincial Public Health Office and Kut Chap Hospital to gather information and offer support. Preliminary visits by a community network revealed that the family of Mr. Akkapol Wansai is still awaiting the return of his body to Thailand. The family comprises four members, including a father, mother, disabled sister, and a child. The MCATT teams have been instructed to provide comprehensive support to all affected families during this difficult time.
