Phasi charoen: The son of a school owner was detained after he went into a frenzy and fatally shot two villagers in the Wat Khuhasawan community. Authorities have taken him into custody and are opposing bail.
According to Thai News Agency, the suspect, Mr. Kittidet, aged 35, also known as Plug, committed the murders on the morning of Asarnha Bucha Day. One of the victims was killed inside the temple before police apprehended him. The Phasi Charoen Police Station has now taken the suspect to the Thonburi Criminal Court to request his detention. The investigator has objected to bail, citing the gravity of the crime and the high penalty involved, along with concerns about the suspect potentially fleeing. As he was escorted to the vehicle, Mr. Kittidet appeared indifferent, while his girlfriend and friends were present since the morning.
Investigations revealed that the suspect confessed to the crime, claiming that he dreamt the victims were performing black magic by embedding nails into their heads, causing him unbearable pain and sleeplessness. This prompted him to shoot them. A physical examination also indicated the presence of methamphetamine. Consequently, police have charged him with intentional murder, firearm possession without permission, and drug use.
Community members in Wat Khuhasawan described Mr. Kittidet as the son of the school owner next to the temple. They noted that although he was a well-behaved youngster, his behavior shifted drastically around 5-6 years ago, reportedly due to drug use, which led to hallucinations. He was known to carry a firearm and roam the community. The firearm in question is believed to have been in his possession for some time, as he was previously involved in a conflict that ended with a shooting incident, resulting in the other party becoming disabled.
