Bangkok: Sriyada Palimaphan, a Member of Parliament from the Pheu Thai Party, has called upon Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to push forward with the Land Bridge Project to its completion. During a session of the House of Representatives, chaired by First Deputy Speaker Chaiya Promma, Ms. Sriyada addressed the hardships faced by the public and emphasized the significance of the Land Bridge project. This initiative, previously advanced by former Prime Ministers Settha Thavisin and Paethongtarn Shinawatra through parliamentary and impact assessments, has also undergone public scrutiny and feedback. Prime Minister Anutin’s commitment to continuing the project is seen as a positive development, as it aims to integrate roads, rail, and pipelines between two oceans, potentially reshaping Thailand’s economic landscape.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sriyada expressed her intention to ensure transparency and maximize public benefit, despite being part of the opposition. She recalled past criticisms and misinformation that attempted to undermine the project’s viability, including fears of natural disasters. However, she noted the project’s substantial private investment and the potential for creating numerous jobs, dismissing the earlier skepticism as unfounded.
Ms. Sriyada further expressed her hope that Prime Minister Anutin’s decisive support, backed by the opposition, would dispel previous doubts and opposition. She emphasized the importance of seizing the current favorable conditions to advance the project, ensuring its success for the benefit of the nation and its people.
