Bangkok: The Student Loan Fund apologizes for the automatic debit of savings accounts and will expedite the automatic refund to the borrower's original account as soon as possible.
According to Thai News Agency, the Student Loan Fund (SLF) posted complaints on social media from borrowers who had money deducted from their savings accounts on July 18, 2025. Some borrowers had already paid their debts according to the annual installments or had paid more than the installments due.
The Student Loan Fund has expedited its investigation into the cause and found that it was due to an error in the new debt calculation system for automatic debit of borrowers' deposit accounts for repayment (Auto Debit). The error affected borrowers whose debts the Student Loan Fund recalculated and still had outstanding debts. The system deducted money based on the miscalculated debt amount, leading to duplicate deductions in some cases or deductions exceeding the amount to be paid.
The Student Loan Fund apologizes for the incident and will expedite the refund of the excess deductions and the automatic refund of the transfer fee to the borrower's original account within 3 days after checking with the system developer. They assure affected individuals that the process will be thorough to prevent any loss. Additionally, they are looking to implement tools to verify information and prevent similar incidents in the future.
