Songkhla: Supit Pitaktham, President of the Songkhla Provincial Administrative Organization, has set an ambitious target for the upcoming Songkhla Marathon 2025, aiming to attract no less than 10,000 participants.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Supit expressed his vision for the event on a Facebook post dated June 7, 2025, where he outlined his commitment to make the Songkhla Marathon a landmark event. He emphasized the province’s existing infrastructure and natural beauty as key attractions for runners worldwide.

Mr. Supit reflected on past marathons, noting that despite minimal promotion, the event attracted between 6,000 to 7,000 runners. Under his leadership, he aims to transform Songkhla into the center of the southern sports city, surpassing the current designation as a Sport City. He believes that with effective publicity and international outreach, the marathon can easily surpass the 10,000-participant mark.

He further announced plans to enhance the quality of life and boost the circular economy in Songkhla by capitalizing on the event. The Songkhla Marathon will serve as a launchpad to demonstrate the province’s readiness to achieve these objectives. Supit emphasized the synergy between sport and tourism, positioning Songkhla as a hub for enthusiasts of both.

Mr. Supit concluded by expressing his openness to collaboration, inviting support from those interested in contributing to the effort, promising mutual benefits rooted in the spirit of the Southern community.
