Surawong Confirms Readiness to Welcome Cambodian Athletes for SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games

Bangkok: “Surawong” confirmed readiness to welcome Cambodian athletes to the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games, but uncertainty remains about their participation.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Surawong Thienthong, Minister of Tourism and Sports, addressed the situation regarding Thailand’s hosting of the 33rd SEA Games and the 13th ASEAN Para Games in 2025. The current tensions between Thailand and Cambodia have raised questions about whether Cambodian athletes will participate in the events. Mr. Surawong emphasized Thailand’s preparedness to host the athletes but acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding their attendance.

Mr. Surawong also commented on the recent decision by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to reduce the visa period for Cambodians traveling to Thailand to seven days. He expressed hope that the situation would be resolved before the SEA Games, noting ongoing discussions aimed at resolving the countermeasures between the two countries.
