Surin: Entering the 12th day of the Thai-Cambodian border situation, events in Surin Province this morning remain normal. Residents of the province are cooperating with the provincial announcement prohibiting immigration into the border area and are following official news. Meanwhile, Surin Provincial OD officials, along with military officials, have traveled to the area to investigate a suspicious object after receiving notification from villagers.
According to Thai News Agency, in Surin Province, a no-fly zone for drones has been lifted into effect for the fourth day. Numerous suspicious objects resembling drones have been found flying in important locations. Information from provincial authorities in the area indicates that many citizens have reported to the 1374 hotline that they have seen suspicious objects flying over the province’s airspace. They have reported their coordinates to the relevant authorities. Officials are currently investigating.
Then, information spread online that a drone had crashed in areas around the city. Initial inquiries with relevant agencies revealed that it was a Thai surveillance drone, a test of the detection system, and a public outreach to the local public. Anyone who encounters one can report it to the 24-hour hotline at 1374.
This morning, a news team visited the clash site following rumors of a provincial evacuation. They found that the situation remained normal, both in the city and in the conflict zone. Most villagers have already evacuated, leaving only community leaders and Village Defense Volunteers (VDP) remaining. Officials remain vigilant and are operating as usual.
This morning, officials involved in inspecting the area for safety from explosives were officers from the Border Patrol Police, Provincial Police, and the National Mine Action Center (TMAC). They met and then went to the area, according to coordinates as notified, to make the area safe according to procedures. In the area, 141 explosives were found.
Officials briefly stated that if the area is not made safe, farmers could face danger in their work, as the area is largely agricultural. Today’s mission will inspect additional areas notified of the disaster, which could impact the daily lives of villagers. The obstacle to the operation is the muddy soil, which has made many of the rockets buried deep and difficult to recover.
