Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister Suriya, acting as Prime Minister, led the royal tribute and candle lighting ceremony to honor His Majesty the King on his birthday, July 28, 2025. The event took place at Sanam Luang, with Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, Government Spokesperson, highlighting the attendance of key figures including the President of the Senate, the President of the Supreme Court, and various government officials, military, police, civilians, and the public.
According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony began at 7:29 PM, with Deputy Prime Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit and his wife, Mrs. Surisa Jungrungreangkit, presiding over the event. Upon arrival, Suriya and other dignitaries paid their respects in front of His Majesty’s portrait, placing a gold and silver wreath. Suriya then performed the ceremonial lighting of candles, offering auspicious blessings to His Majesty.
In a heartfelt address, Suriya expressed his best wishes to the King, reflecting on His Majesty’s lifelong dedication to the welfare of the people. He praised the King’s numerous royal initiatives and unwavering support for those in need, emphasizing the King’s compassionate and inspirational role for the nation.
The ceremony concluded with the Royal Anthem, followed by the Deputy Prime Minister and his wife joining the congregation in singing “Long Live the King” three times, marking a respectful conclusion to the tribute.
