Suwat Affirms Chart Pattana Party’s Support for Pheu Thai Party in Government Formation

Bangkok: Suwat Liptapanlop, former Deputy Prime Minister, has confirmed that the Chart Pattana Party is backing the Pheu Thai Party as the core party in the ongoing efforts to form a new government. Emphasizing the urgency, Suwat highlighted the need for a swift government formation to address pressing issues faced by the populace.

According to Thai News Agency, Suwat expressed the necessity of selecting a new prime minister following the Constitutional Court’s ruling that required the removal of Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra from her prime ministerial post, leading to the dissolution of the cabinet. Currently, the country is under a caretaker government, and Suwat stressed that the transition to a new government must adhere to legal and constitutional protocols. This involves the election of a new prime minister, the formation of a new cabinet, and the issuance of a new policy statement. He noted that while this process will take time, it is crucial for determining the new government’s policies and plans for the remainder of the parliamentary term.

The Chart Pattana Party, along with other coalition parties, has resolved to support the Pheu Thai Party in leading the government formation. Suwat indicated that the specifics regarding the structure of the new government, including the selection of the prime minister and the involvement of other political parties, have been entrusted to the Pheu Thai Party. He reiterated the need for a constitutionally appointed government to expedite efforts in resolving the challenges faced by the citizens.
