State-owned telecommunication provider PT Telkom Indonesia (Telkom) Tbk distributed 922 Qurbani (Islamic ritual of sacrifice) animals for the 2022 Eid al-Adha as a form of contribution to the community.
The management of PT Telkom, in a press statement received here on Friday, noted that the distribution Qurbani animals was marked by a ceremony conducted in a hybrid, i.e. online and offline, manner.
President Director of PT Telkom Ririek Adriansyah stated that despite an improvement in the COVID-19 situation, the COVID-19 protocols set by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) will continue to be followed for the animal slaughtering and distribution process of Qurbani meat.
This year, PT Telkom distributed as many as 922 animals for Qurbani comprising 275 cattle and 647 goats and sheep. The assistance in the form of distribution of Qurbani animals does not only come from the company but also from its employees.
“The assistance will be distributed to the poor community around Telkom Group’s offices as well as to the Telkom retirees,” Adriansyah stated.
The distribution of Qurbani animals is conducted in collaboration with Nadhlatul Ulama, Muhammadiyah, and TelkomGroup Taklim Council (MTTG), as well as the management of mosques around Telkom’s offices, both central and regional.
Senior General Manager of Telkom’s Community Development Center Division Hery Susanto pointed to an 18-percent increase in the number of distributed Qurbani animals as compared to that recorded last year.
“The Qurbani animals that we distribute already have a certificate of being free of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD), so they are safe for slaughter and distribution,” he remarked.
Sharing Qurbani animals with the community is a yearly activity of PT Telkom to celebrate the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha. Since 2016, Telkom has distributed over five thousand Qurbani animals.
Distribution of Qurbani animals is expected to offer benefits to the community as well as blessings for the company, so that Telkom can continue to make real contributions to the community.
