Thai Government Tests New Three-Digit Lottery System with Digital Sales at Designated Points

Mueang district: The Government Lottery Office (GLO) of Thailand has launched a trial sale for a new three-digit lottery ticket system, available exclusively through digital channels and limited sales points. The initiative, spearheaded by Lt. Col. Noon Sansanakom and Lieutenant Commander Suphaschan Tasanakul, aims to modernize lottery sales and ensure controlled distribution.

According to Thai News Agency, the trial, which commenced on October 17, 2024, with the first draw scheduled for November 1, 2024, takes place in Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province. The project introduces the “Three-digit Government Lottery” at 647 designated “Lottery Project 80” sales points nationwide. On the launch day, Lt. Col. Noon reported a lively atmosphere with eager participation from the public.

The GLO has capped the sale of these lottery tickets to 5 million copies per draw over a six-month trial period. This initiative is part of a closed test system (Sandbox), which aims to evaluate the system’s efficiency and public
response before a full launch planned for April 2025. Purchases can be made digitally via the “Pao Tang” app, which also assists buyers in locating sales points and provides information on prize amounts for each draw. Each ticket is priced at 20 baht.

The three-digit lottery differs from traditional lotteries by offering variable prizes, determined by the number of winners per number in each draw. The results will correlate with the six-digit government lottery outcomes, drawn bi-monthly. Winners are notified via the Pao Tang app, where they can also claim their prizes directly.

In addition to the new lottery system, the GLO is also committed to community support through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. During their visit, Lt. Col. Noon and Lieutenant Commander Suphaschan presided over a ceremony for the installation of a 100-kilowatt solar energy system at local schools, as part of the “Supporting Lottery Schools in the Fiscal Year 2024” project.
