Thai Prime Minister and Cabinet Members Receive Donations for Flood Relief Efforts


BANGKOK: Before the cabinet meeting, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister of Thailand, presided over a ceremony to accept donations from various private sector entities aimed at aiding flood victims. The event, held at the Purple Room, Thai Khu Fa Building, Government House, saw significant contributions from both corporate and community organizations.

According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister was joined by key cabinet members including Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport; Ms. Sudawan Wangsupakijkosol, Minister of Culture; and Mr. Chusak Sirinil, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office. The group collectively received donations that will support the ongoing relief efforts for communities affected by recent flooding across the country.

Significant monetary contributions were made by the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. The Cha
mber, led by Chairman Mr. Narongsak Phutthaprommongkol, donated 5 million baht, while Huawei, represented by Ms. Pornthira Chiewcheingngan, contributed 1 million baht. Additionally, the Thai-Chinese Friendship Foundation donated various items valued at a total of 2 million baht.

Other notable donations included mattresses from PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, worth approximately 1.3 million baht, and oyster sauce products from Nam Pla Pichai Company Limited (Head Office), valued at around 400,000 baht. These contributions will be directed towards providing immediate relief and support to the flood victims.

In a related note from the day’s cabinet meeting, which was held via video conference due to some members attending to flood-related duties, Gen. Nattapol Nakphanit, Deputy Minister of Defense, managed the meeting remotely from the Forward Operation Center for Flood, Storm, and Landslide Relief (OCR) in Chiang Rai Province.
