Thailand and Anhui Province Sign MOU to Boost Industrial Cooperation


BANGKOK: Thailand and China’s Anhui Province have formalized a collaboration to enhance industrial estate investments through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) under the initiative “Two Countries, Twin Parks.” The agreement, signed by representatives from the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) and the Department of Commerce, Anhui Province, aims to advance trade, investment, and industrial cooperation between the two regions.

According to Thai News Agency, the MOU was signed by Mr. Yang Benqing, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Commerce, Anhui Province, and Mr. Sumet Tangprasert, IEAT Board Member and Acting Governor, with Thailand’s Minister of Industry, Mr. Ekkanat Promphan, overseeing the ceremony. The agreement is designed to foster bilateral economic cooperation, particularly in the electric vehicle industry, which has seen significant Chinese investment in Thailand’s industrial estates.

ts and noted that the MOU seeks to establish a new form of industrial partnership. This includes developing trade and investment platforms, enhancing research and development, and opening international trade corridors. The focus will be on target industries such as new energy, new raw materials, and safe food.

Mr. Luo Guangyong, Secretary-General of the Anhui Provincial Government, praised Thailand’s economic potential and underscored the strong relations between the two countries. He emphasized that the agreement covers cooperation in diverse areas, including economy, trade, culture, and tourism. The initiative aims to improve transportation routes and enhance people-to-people exchanges in cultural tourism, education, and agriculture. Furthermore, Mr. Luo invited Thai citizens to visit Huangshan City in Anhui Province to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Anhui-Thailand relations.

Mr. Sumet Tangprasert remarked that the MOU aligns with the Belt and Road Initiatives, aiming to strengthen economic exchanges
and cooperation between Thailand and China. The agreement also seeks to promote investment and personnel exchanges in various sectors, such as energy conservation, high-end machinery manufacturing, organic food production, and cross-border e-commerce.

The Memorandum of Understanding will remain in effect for three years from the date of signing, with both parties committed to supporting policies and mechanisms that facilitate the development and execution of related projects.
