The IEEE PES Thailand Chapter announced the hosting of the 10th IEEE International Smart Cities Conference (IEEE-ISC2- 2024), the first international conference and exhibition on smart cities in Thailand and ASEAN, under the theme ‘Smart Cities: A Revolution for Humanity’, gathering experts, researchers, and smart city developers from around the world to jointly develop guidelines for the development of smart cities in the future, from 29 October – 1 November 2024 at the Royal Cliff Grand Hotel, Pattaya, Chonburi Province.
Mr. Wilad Chalermsat, President of the IEEE Power and Energy Society (Thailand) and the Governor of the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, revealed that currently, smart city technology has become the main guideline for urban development worldwide. This is because it will help improve convenience in all aspects, including safety of life and property, reduce traffic problems, promote efficient energy use, reduce environmental problems, and create new business practices that are in line
with the current and future world. This has created a trend of urban development in Thailand towards becoming smart cities in many areas, both large and small, that are in line with the local context. This has made Thailand stand out in this area. Most recently, the IEEE Power and Energy Society (Thailand) or IEEE PES Thailand Chapter hosted the 10th IEEE International Smart Cities Conference and Exhibition (IEEE-ISC2-2024) from October 29 to November 1, 2024 at the Royal Cliff Grand Hotel, Pattaya, Chonburi Province, under the main concept of ‘Smart Cities: A Revolution for Humanity’, which was held in Thailand and ASEAN for the first time. The IEEE-ISC2-2024 conference will feature over 200 presentations on key topics such as integration of critical infrastructure in smart cities, advanced applications and data analytics for smart cities, new smart city habitats, data centers and cloud technology, and smart environ
ments. A variety of academic activities will also be organized, such as tutorials, panel sessions, side events, workshops, and exhibitions from leading government and private sector agencies in developing innovations and technologies for smart city development.
