Thailand’s Election Commission Approves Election Plan for Subdistrict Administrative Officials

Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has officially approved the plan to conduct elections for Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO) council members and mayors, with current terms set to expire on November 27th.

According to Thai News Agency, the ECT has announced that individuals interested in contesting the elections should familiarize themselves with the necessary details and begin their preparations. The officials whose terms are concluding were elected on November 28, 2021, and their tenure will end on November 27, 2025.

The election management plan outlines that candidacy applications will be accepted from December 1 to 5, 2025. The elections are scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 11, 2026. The Subdistrict Administrative Organization Election Director, with the consent of the Provincial Election Director, will finalize and announce these dates.

The ECT encourages potential candidates for SAO council member or mayor positions to review the qualifications required, ensure they have the appropriate documentation, and familiarize themselves with the application process.
