Bangkok, 8 Oct – The Cabinet has approved the draft of the Railway Transport Act B.E. … and will submit it to the House of Representatives to proceed with the supervision of the Thai railway system for efficiency.
Mr. Pichet Kunathammarak, Director-General of the Department of Rail Transport, revealed that today (8 October), the Cabinet meeting chaired by Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, resolved to approve the draft of the Rail Transport Act B.E. … as proposed by the Ministry of Transport. In the next step, it will be submitted to the meeting of the Government Coalition Party Coordination Committee (Government Whip) for consideration and approval, and then submitted to the House of Representatives for consideration. It is expected that next week, it will be submitted for consideration by the House of Representatives in time for this session.
Mr. Pichet continued that the Railway Transport Act B.E. … will help solve various problems for rail transport users more effectively, as well as help pr
omote the potential of rail transport operators, along with supporting users to receive equal services, because the impacts on rail transport users are numerous, both in terms of protecting the rights of users who do not meet the standards that they should receive, such as setting fare rates, facilities for users, and safety, etc., including delays in train travel or cancellations without prior notice to passengers, including setting safety standards to prevent loss of life and property.
