The Cabinet has approved the extension of the agricultural recovery plan for another 5 years.

Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, advisor to the Prime Minister, said that the Cabinet meeting agreed to review the Cabinet resolution (24 September 2019) to extend the period for resolving farmers’ debts under the Agricultural Rehabilitation Plan and the Agricultural Production System Restructuring and Adjustment Project for another 5 years, from the original end date of 30 September 2024 to 30 September 2029. Currently, there are 21,968 farmers in debt, with a loan principal of 558.55 million baht, who are unable to repay their debts by 30 September 2024.

Therefore, in order for farmers to have time to repay their debts, as some farmers still have the ability to repay their debts to their full potential, and in order to maintain farmers’ debt repayment discipline, and in addition to extending the period so that it will not cause additional budget expenses in the future, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives proposes extending the period for resolving farmers’ debts under the Agricultural Rehabilitation Plan (Po
rKor.) and the Agricultural Production System Restructuring Project (KorPor.) (Debt Resolution) for a period of 5 years, from the original end date of September 30, 2024 to September 30, 2029.
