The Democrat Party is ready if Pheu Thai invites them.

Democrat Party is ready. If Pheu Thai invites tomorrow, they will immediately call a meeting of the executive committee and MPs.

Reporters from the Democrat Party reported that there was a weekly party MP meeting that started at 2:30 p.m., in which only 10 MPs attended the meeting. Even Mr. Chalermchai Sri-on, leader of the Democrat Party, and Mr. Decha-ism Khaothong, MP for Songkhla and party secretary, did not attend the meeting. The meeting only discussed the agenda of the weekly parliament meeting, but did not discuss joining the Pheu Thai government, as Pheu Thai had not yet invited them. After the meeting, the MPs and former MPs gathered at Mr. Chalermchai’s residence to have dinner in the evening and follow up on the situation to if he would join the government.

Reporters reported that after Mr. Surawong Thienthong, MP for Sa Kaeo and secretary-general of the Pheu Thai Party, came out to state that it was possible to invite the Democrat Party to join the government, but the resolution of the Pheu Th
ai MP meeting assigned the party executive committee meeting to consider whether to invite the Democrat Party or not, causing the Democrat Party leaders to still follow the stance of the Pheu Thai Party executive committee meeting to see what will happen because the Democrat Party wants clarity by any means. They must say that they will invite the Democrat Party to join so that they can enter the process according to the party regulations. But if they don’t speak clearly, they will remain silent.

Later, at around 6:00 p.m., it became clear that the Pheu Thai Party would issue an invitation to the Democrat Party to join the government. Therefore, there was a report from the Democrat Party that when they officially received the invitation from the Pheu Thai Party, they would call a meeting of the executive committee in the morning to meet with the MPs in the afternoon. It is expected that if the invitation is sent on August 28, the meeting can be called immediately or at the latest on August 29, since the MPs
are already attending the parliamentary meeting.
