The King and Queen attended the China-Thailand Friendly Ice Hockey Match.

His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen attended the friendly ice hockey match between the People’s Republic of China and the Kingdom of Thailand.

Yesterday (6 October 2024), His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen attended the friendly ice hockey match between the People’s Republic of China and the Kingdom of Thailand at the Thailand International Ice Hockey Arena in Huai Khwang District, Bangkok. The event was organized by the Thai government, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand to celebrate His Majesty the King’s 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary on 28 July 2024 and the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, as well as to strengthen the long-standing good relations between the People’s Republic of China and the Kingdom of Thailand.

On this occasion, His Majesty granted an audience to Mr. Surawong Thienthong, Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Han Zhiqiang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China t
o Thailand, and the Thai and Chinese delegations to present the English version of the book “Sports King of the Land”, the book “Thailand and the Development of Ice Hockey”, and souvenirs to His Majesty the King.

Then, the Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand, the wife of the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Thailand, the members of the International Olympic Committee, and the Secretary-General of the Ice Hockey Association of Thailand paid homage to Her Majesty the Queen and presented the book “The King of Sportsmen of the Land” in Thai and souvenirs. Mr. Luke Tardif, President of the International Ice Hockey Federation, presented the symbolic shield of the first Honorary Female Ice Hockey Ambassador of the International Ice Hockey Federation and a certificate to Her Majesty the Queen, acknowledging Her Majesty’s ice hockey expertise. When Her Majesty traveled to open the Thailand International Ice Hockey Arena, Chiang Mai on October 20, 2023, she participated in the opening match, im
pressing and inspiring many female athletes, and being a role model for athletes in Asia and around the world.

On this occasion, His Majesty viewed a performance in the form of Thai Contemporary Dance, which combined ice skating and various equipment to tell the story of the relationship through the symbols of the two countries. The Kingdom of Thailand used the Naga as its symbol, while the People’s Republic of China used the dragon as its symbol.

The Kingdom of Thailand and the People’s Republic of China established diplomatic relations on July 1, 1975. His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen attach great importance to fostering friendly relations between the two countries. His Majesty the King and the Royal Family have visited the People’s Republic of China on several occasions. There have been exchanges of visits between leaders of both countries.

e, at Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall on the occasion of his visit to Thailand to attend the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum. Relations between the two countries have developed rapidly and smoothly, and in 2025 it will be the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
