The Prime Minister declared 2025 as the golden year of Thai-Chinese diplomatic friendship.


Paetongtarn”, Prime Minister, announced the year 2568 as the “Golden Year of Friendship between Thailand and China”, celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations, while the Chinese Prime Minister is delighted with Thai fabric and Muay Thai, Thai soft power that is popular among the Chinese people.

Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, discussed with Mr. Li Qiang, Premier of the People’s Republic of China during the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related summits. Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, Government Spokesman, summarized the important points as follows.

The Prime Minister proposed that both sides jointly declare 2025 as the Golden Year of Friendship, as it will mark the 50th anniversary of Thailand-China diplomatic relations. Thailand is ready to cooperate with China to promote strategic partnership and jointly solve regional problems, build a stable, prosperous and sustainable community, and hopes to have the opportunity to welcome Chinese Premier and President Xi Jinping to Thailand next year.

In terms
of economic and cultural cooperation, it is hoped that both sides will soon hold the 7th Thailand-China JC Economic Conference. It is believed that both countries should cooperate to promote regional economic integration and promote trade and facilitation of goods transportation, especially agricultural products. Thailand is highly prepared in terms of infrastructure in terms of transportation, energy and finance, so it hopes to cooperate with China in future industries and invites Chinese companies with potential to invest in various fields in Thailand.

In addition, Thailand hopes and is ready to cooperate with China to accelerate the suppression of transnational crimes, gray businesses and call centers, both bilaterally and regionally. In addition, China has responded to Thailand’s request and slowed down the release of water into the Lan Xang River, helping to alleviate the flooding problem in the North and Northeast of Thailand.

In terms of regional cooperation, Thailand and China will host the Mekong-L
ancang Cooperation Leaders’ Meeting in 2025, and Thailand also thanked China for supporting Thailand’s intention to become a BRICS member. On

this occasion, the Chinese Premier congratulated her on assuming the position of Prime Minister and was confident that under the leadership of Ms. Paethongtarn, cooperation between Thailand and China will be deeper and broader, including expanding cooperation in the fields of modern technology, electronics, electric vehicles, agriculture, and transportation connectivity. China is also ready to cooperate with Thailand in cracking down on various forms of cross-border crimes.

The Chinese premier also expressed his appreciation for Thai soft power, including Thai fabric and Muay Thai, which are very popular in China and he believes that they will be part of the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Thai-Chinese relations next year.
