The Prime Minister flies to Chiang Rai to monitor the flood situation.


‘Prime Minister Paethongtarn’ visited the area to monitor the flood situation, prepare to distribute relief bags to those affected in Chiang Rai Province, and inspect the transportation of relief supplies by the army.

Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Gen. Nattapol Nakphanit, Deputy Minister of Defense, Ms. Teerarat Samretwanich, Deputy Minister of Interior, and Dr. Prommin Lertsuridej, Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, traveled to Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province to monitor the flood situation.

Before traveling, the Prime Minister and his entourage inspected the transportation of various relief equipment to be transported to help flood victims in Chiang Rai Province by the Air Force and the Royal Thai Army. Air Chief Marshal Panphakdi Pattanakul, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force, gave a report. The Air Force will trans
port two groups of people: in the morning, jet skis and flat-bottomed boats will be transported, while in the afternoon, jet skis and relief bags will be transported. The Prime Minister asked how many people could be transported out of the area by flat-bottomed boats at a time. The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force stated that one flat-bottomed boat can transport 15 people. The Prime Minister also gave encouragement to the military officers who went down to help flood victims.

After that, the Prime Minister departed from Airport 2, Wing 6 at 9:00 a.m. to Mae Fah Luang International Airport.

Then at 11.30 am, the Prime Minister and his entourage will travel to Mae Sai District Office, Wiang Pang Kham Subdistrict, Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, to monitor the water situation, the distress situation, the damages and impacts, and the relief plan at the Incident Command Center, Mae Sai District Office.

Immediately upon arrival, the Prime Minister will listen to a report on the water situati
on in Chiang Rai Province before traveling to the Incident Command Center at Mae Sai District Office to monitor the water situation and provide relief to disaster victims in Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province. He will then travel to the Incident Command Center to monitor the distress situation and relief plans and visit the area to provide relief to disaster victims in Mae Sai District at the temporary shelter in Mae Sai District.

In the afternoon at around 1:45 p.m., the Prime Minister and his entourage will travel to Chiang Rai Rajabhat University to help victims and distribute relief bags to affected people before returning to Bangkok.

The Prime Minister will use this opportunity to visit the area to inspect government work and discuss with officials and local people to arrange assistance from the government to best meet the situation and needs of the people, including supplies, food, and medicine. All relevant agencies should assess and monitor the water situation in other areas as well. He would lik

This trip to Chiang Rai Province to monitor the flood situation is Ms. Paethongtarn’s first mission in the area after leading the cabinet in presenting the government’s policy to the parliament yesterday (12 September).
